St. Mark's Church - The Parish Church of Highcliffe - Dorset UK
The Icon Of St. Mark

The Apostle and Evangelist

Designed, painted and prepared in the Neo Coptic Style by Fadi Mikhail an Art and Design student at the Neo Coptic School of Iconography. He is a Copt in the Christian Coptic Church of Egypt.

The work was hung and installed in 2007 on the east wall of the south transept of St. Mark's Church, Highcliffe.

It is symbolic of St. Mark and the lion seated by the turbulent sea with the ship in which he travelled to Egypt by the lighthouse of Alexandria. The tree tells of the saint's fruitful ministry in Egypt.
